As the Apex Court of the country refuses to dismiss the Shinde government, speculation of NCP leader Ajit Pawar becoming Chief Minister is over for the moment. Perhaps veteran Maratha leader Sharad Pawar could guess the outcome of the Maharashtra defection issue and suggest that Junior Pawar not aspire for the post of Chief Minister. The Supreme Court judgement also opened a Pandora’s box for the Udhhav Thakrey camp. The Supreme Court says, “As Mr. Thakrey did not face the floor test before he resigned, it would not be possible to restore Mr. Thakrey’s government.” Questions are being asked about who advised Thakrey to resign before the floor test. If he would do the same, perhaps today he could get back the chief minister’s post again.

HC rejects Bangladeshi’s plea
Recently, the Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court rejected the appeal of one TMC candidate for the last assembly poll as she was found to be a citizen of Bangladesh. This gives ammunition to the state BJP against TMC that they are promoting foreign nationals to be candidates in the border area. Candidate Alorani Sarkar contested in the Bangaon assembly constituency and lost against a BJP candidate. After losing the election, she filed a case for malpractice against the BJP candidate. The High Court found that she is not an Indian citizen. Against the order of the High Court, she filed an appeal to the division bench. But the division bench upheld the judgement of the single bench and asked the Election Commission to arrange her deportation.

Congress leader introduces RSS
As the assembly election in Haryana draws closer, most political parties are engaged in the induction of leaders from rival parties. It so happened because recently former Chief Minister Bhupender Sing Hooda inducted many leaders and workers from the opposition INLD, JJP, and even from the local RSS unit. This has created a fissure in the party. As Rahul Gandhi is opposed to the RSS, questions are being asked about why leaders affiliated with the RSS are being inducted. In this former CM’s reply, it seems that the Congress party wants to win elections without the support of any party members. Ideology cannot be a barrier.
