Former Congress Union Minister Pawan Bansal expressed concern, stating that the promise of providing 24-hour water supply in Chandigarh has faded over time, leaving voters who relied on those commitments feeling forgotten.
The area of Mani Majra, is currently facing both dirtiness and scarcity of water. Complaints include leaking sewage in the streets, with only about 2 hours of water supply available during the day despite the promise of 24-hour water. Since the BJP assumed control in Chandigarh, no new streets or roads have been constructed in Mani Majra, and local councilors have not prioritized these fundamental issues.
During his visit to Mani Majra, Pawan Bansal observed the challenges faced by residents. Shivalik Garden, one of the city’s beautiful parks, is in a state of disrepair, and there is a lack of drinking water and toilet facilities. Residents also informed Bansal about the neglected condition of a bridge over a drain near the Sheetal Mata Temple, allowing sewage water to flow unchecked for many years.
Critiquing the BJP, former Union Minister Pawan Bansal accused them of playing politics for votes without taking tangible steps for development in the city. He emphasized that this neglect extends even to the development works carried out during the Congress era. Bansal has appealed to Chandigarh’s administration to prioritize development projects in Mani Majra to ensure the comfort of city dwellers.
