When flying, it’s important for passengers to follow basic manners and try not to inconvenience those around them. Recently, however, a passenger on a Delta flight was shocked after witnessing a couple change their baby’s dirty diaper at their seats instead of using the restroom. The incident was shared on Reddit’s “r/delta” subreddit, where the passenger detailed their unpleasant experience, stating, “The people in the row in front of me are changing a poopy diaper in their seats.”

The passenger continued, “The smell is horrendous. There’s no reason not to do this in the bathroom.” The situation became so unbearable that the traveler moved to another seat farther back in the plane. Fortunately, a flight attendant soon noticed the move and inquired about it. “The FA noticed I had moved and asked why so I explained. She was mortified and thanked me for telling her,” the passenger recalled.

The flight attendant then addressed the situation, telling the father that changing the diaper at the seat was unsanitary and instructing him to use the bathroom instead. Thankfully, the father complied without causing a scene.

The Reddit post quickly gained attention, sparking a discussion in the comments. Nearly 700 people reacted, with around 400 users sharing their opinions. Many agreed that the parents’ actions were unsanitary.

One commenter remarked, “Thank you for the reminder to bring sanitizing wipes on all flights!” Another user shared a similar experience: “Experienced this on a night flight. The smell literally woke everybody up. The FA came yelling at the mom telling her she needs to go to the bathroom. But the damage was already done and it took some time to get rid of the smell.”

Other Reddit users expressed their frustrations with parents who lack awareness of proper hygiene in public places. One user commented, “I saw a mother change her baby on a food court table in a mall once. People/parents with newborns are often entitled, clueless, and disgusting.”

Another user provided practical advice: “Pro tip: always carry a mask and small travel jar of Vicks vapor rub. Or other self-approved smelly-good stuff. Essential oils work great too, but can be messy.”

Overall, the incident highlighted how such actions can be considered a biohazard, especially if a child has digestive issues. Many users were thankful that the flight attendant stepped in to address the problem.
