Opposition parties have planned a united protest in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha over the situation in Manipur. To strategise their approach, Opposition leaders will hold a meeting at Rajya Sabha MP Mallikarjun Kharge’s office on July 24. They also intend to stage a protest in front of the Gandhi statue in Parliament against the situation in Manipur.
The Opposition has issued continuous notices under Rule 193 in the Lok Sabha and Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha for discussions on this issue, and they are demanding a response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. However, the government has asserted that it will be Home Minister Amit Shah, not the Prime Minister, who will respond to this matter. The ruling party has taken an aggressive stance on the issue, which is likely to be evident on the Parliament premises on Monday.
As per sources from the BJP, all party MPs will participate in the protest against the government in front of the Gandhi statue in the Parliament building. Simultaneously, the BJP will raise the issue of atrocities against women and Dalits in West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Rajasthan during the protest.
Central Minister Anurag Thakur stated that atrocities against women are tragic, regardless of the state they occur in.
