On Sunday, Indian badminton sensation Lakshya Sen lost in the semifinals at the Paris Olympics 2024 to Olympic reigning champion Viktor Axelsen. He produced an earnest fight, but in the end, the unseeded 22-year-old succumbed to the world number two with a score of 20-22, 14-21.

The youngster, however, showed good skills and fought brilliantly throughout the contest to hold onto vital leads at various timings. The superior consistency, however, from the more experienced Axelsen paid off. Sen lost the match but remains very much in contention for a medal.

Sen will now take on Malaysia’s Lee Zii Jia in the bronze medal match that will be played on Monday, August 5. The world number seven lost to Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn 14-21, 15-21 in the other semifinal.

Reflecting on his performance, Sen acknowledged the challenge put in by Axelsen but remained optimistic about the next match. “I put my best today, and I will keep giving my best in the next match,” he said.

And so fans and supporters await eagerly a battle for bronze, wanting to see him emerge at the finish very strong, possibly at the top with a first-ever podium finish for Sen on his journey in the Paris Olympics, proven to be more of a magician in displaying the talent in him through his hard work, for sure, the contest for bronze will prove to be some sort of challenge.
