Indian archer Pravin Jadhav exited the Paris Olympics after losing his individual men’s recurve opening round match in straight sets to Kao Wenchao of China on Thursday.

Jadhav was defeated 0-6 (28-29, 29-30, 27-28) in the round of 64.

Despite Jadhav hitting four 10s during the match, the Chinese archer edged him out by a single point in each of the three sets.

With Jadhav’s defeat, India’s campaign in the men’s individual event came to an end as veteran Tarundeep Rai and Dhiraj Boomadevara had already lost their respective knockout matches earlier in the week.

The experienced Deepika Kumari and 18-year-old Bhajan Kaur are still in contention in the women’s individual event and will compete in the pre-quarterfinals on Saturday.

Earlier in the tournament, both the Indian men’s and women’s teams were eliminated in the quarterfinals.
