Security forces are on high alert following reports of Pakistan setting forests near the Line of Control (LoC) on fire, raising concerns of potential terrorist infiltration into Indian territory. This familiar tactic, employed by Pakistan in the past, is once again being utilized to facilitate the movement of terrorists across the border. The incident, which occurred in the Digwar Sector of the LoC in Poonch, has prompted a swift response from Indian security forces.

According to senior officials, intelligence indicates a significant presence of trained terrorists awaiting opportunities to breach the Indian side. The fire ignited by Pakistan near the Line of Control, originating from the Nakarkot village, has advanced perilously close to forward posts of the Indian Army in the Poonch district’s Degwar sector.

“The fire originated from the Sidhiya area of Pakistan’s Nakarkot village, spreading towards the Line of Control and eventually crossing over into Indian territory by evening. Indian Army posts made efforts to contain the blaze,” stated an official.

Furthermore, the activation of tunnels designed to prevent infiltration across the Line of Control has been reported, accompanied by regular sounds of explosions in civilian areas. This incident mirrors previous attempts by the Pakistani Army to disrupt Indian surveillance equipment along the Line of Control, notably in Mendhar’s Manakote area of the Poonch district, aimed at facilitating infiltration from the Pakistani side.

The escalation in hostilities coincides with a recent incident where Pakistan Rangers initiated firing at Border Security Force posts in the Makwal area of Jammu. In response, the BSF effectively retaliated, resulting in casualties on the Pakistani side.

The ongoing provocations underscore the precarious security situation along the border, necessitating heightened vigilance and robust defensive measures by Indian security forces to safeguard territorial integrity and protect civilian populations.
