Who Is Kashish Chaudhary? Meet Balochistan’s First Hindu Woman Assistant Commissioner

At just 25 years old, Kashish Chaudhary has created history. She became the first woman from the Hindu community in Balochistan, Pakistan, to be appointed as an Assistant Commissioner.

Historic Milestone for Hindu Community

Kashish comes from Noshki town in Chagai district. She cleared the competitive exam conducted by the Balochistan Public Service Commission (BPSC). Her achievement is not only a personal victory but also a source of inspiration for Pakistan’s Hindu groups.

“Discipline and Hard Work Led to Success”

While speaking to SAMAA News, Kashish shared the dedication behind her journey. She said, “Discipline, hard work, and the desire to contribute to society have driven me throughout this journey.” She added that she studied for at least eight hours daily over three years to prepare for the exam.

Her father, Girdhari Lal, who works as a mid-level trader, expressed deep pride in her achievement. “It is a matter of great pride for me that my daughter has become an assistant commissioner due to her hard work and commitment,” he told the media. He also mentioned that Kashish had always dreamed of making a difference, especially for women.

Meeting with Balochistan’s Chief Minister

On Monday, Kashish and her father met Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti in Quetta. During their meeting, Kashish promised to focus on empowering women and religious communities while also supporting the overall development of the province.

CM Bugti praised her appointment, saying, “Kashish is a symbol of pride for the nation and Balochistan.” He added that it is a proud moment when people from Hindu communities earn important roles through dedication and effort.

Women from Hindu Community Breaking Barriers

Kashish is among several Hindu women who have made significant strides in fields usually dominated by men in Pakistan. These women have overcome cultural and social challenges to rise in public service and law enforcement.

In 2022, Manesh Ropeta became the first Hindu woman appointed as Superintendent of Police in Karachi. She continues to serve in that role. Another example is 35-year-old Pushpa Kumari Kohli, a sub-inspector in Karachi. She proudly said, “I also passed the Sindh police Public Services Examination. There are many more Hindu girls out there waiting to educate themselves and become something.” Pushpa belongs to a scheduled caste and believes Hindu women are capable of reaching leadership positions through their intelligence and determination.

More Success Stories from Sindh

In 2019, Suman Pawan Bodani from Shahdadkot in Sindh became a civil judge in her hometown. These accomplishments reflect a growing trend of Hindu women entering professional fields.

Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, a politician from Sindh, also praised this shift. He stated that young Hindu girls, with the support of their families, are now more eager to get an education and pursue careers.

“Our young women are doing us proud. We have doctors, civil servants, police officers, etc., in Sindh,” he said.
