Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has categorically stated that Pakistan won’t budge on the water matter as it is a matter of the country’s life. He made his remarks after India suspended the International Water Treaty (IWT) in response to Islamabad’s alleged ‘unsubstantiated charges’ over the Pahalgam attack.
“There will be no compromise on water because it is the lifeblood of Pakistan,” the Prime Minister asserted strongly while speaking at the passing out parade ceremony organized at the Kakul academy on Saturday.
Tensions had mounted earlier this week after a fatal attack in Pahalgam, occupied Kashmir, in which unidentified attackers killed over two dozen tourists. India accused Pakistan of involvement in the attack, something Islamabad categorically denies.
In reply, PM Shehbaz announced that Pakistan is willing to collaborate with an independent inquiry into the incident. “Pakistan is prepared for an international investigation of the Pahalgam incident,” he asserted, reaffirming the government’s position of transparency and accountability.
This is a developing story.
