Cross-border relationships have been in the spotlight ever since Seema Haider entered India illegally to be with her lover. Now, another such case has emerged, involving a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer who has reportedly married a Pakistani woman.

Munir Ahmed, a CRPF officer from Jammu’s Bhalwal, tied the knot with Manel Khan from the Punjab region of Pakistan. Currently posted in Shiv Khori, Reasi district, Ahmed met Manel through social media, and their interactions gradually turned into love.

Virtual Wedding After Visa Hurdles

Unable to secure a visa initially, the couple opted for a wedding via video conference. After their marriage was formalized, Manel obtained a 15-day visa and entered India through the Attari-Wagah border to reunite with her husband.

Upon her arrival, she was warmly received by her in-laws, who welcomed her with traditional customs. As news of the wedding spread, curious villagers gathered to catch a glimpse of the Pakistani bride.

Security Agencies on High Alert

Following her entry into India, intelligence agencies have heightened surveillance due to the sensitivity of the situation. Authorities are closely monitoring her activities, though her in-laws insist that she entered the country legally with proper clearance. Reports suggest that Manel has been managing household responsibilities, including cooking traditional Rajasthani dishes.

Growing Trend of Cross-Border Marriages

This marriage is the latest in a series of cross-border love stories between Indians and Pakistanis. One of the most talked-about cases was that of Seema Haider, who left her husband and illegally entered India to be with her partner.

Similarly, Anju, an Indian woman, traveled to Pakistan on a month-long visa to meet her lover, Nasrullah. Another case involved 21-year-old Indian citizen Mulayam Singh Yadav, who helped his 19-year-old Pakistani wife, Iqra Jeewani, obtain a fake ID to enter India. However, after their illegal entry was discovered, Iqra was deported to Pakistan, and Mulayam was arrested on fraud charges.
