Islamabad [Pakistan],: Pakistan is set to begin deporting Afghan nationals, including Afghan Citizen Card (ACC) holders, after the March 31, 2025, deadline. According to ARY News, over 884,261 Afghan nationals have already been repatriated as of March 29. The Pakistani authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against those who fail to leave by the deadline.
Afghan Nationals Urged to Leave Before March 31
Pakistan’s Ministry of Interior has reiterated that all illegal Afghan migrants and ACC holders must leave the country by March 31, 2025. The Illegal Foreigners Repatriation Program (IFRP), which began on November 1, 2023, is being strictly implemented. Authorities have assured that arrangements for food and healthcare are in place for the returning Afghans.
The ministry emphasized that no one will be mistreated during the repatriation process. However, those who remain after the deadline will face deportation starting April 1, 2025.
Over 800,000 Afghans Already Repatriated
Since the launch of the repatriation campaign in November 2023, more than 800,000 Afghans living illegally in Pakistan have returned to their homeland. However, reports suggest that approximately 3 million Afghans still reside in Pakistan, with many holding ACCs.
Pakistan’s Commitment to Safe Repatriation
The Pakistani government has stated that sufficient time has been granted for a dignified return. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to protecting the rights of those returning, ensuring their safety during the repatriation process.
“Pakistan has been a gracious host and continues to fulfill its commitments and obligations as a responsible state,” the ministry stated, stressing that individuals remaining in Pakistan must comply with legal formalities.
Strict Action After Deadline
With the deadline approaching, Pakistan has made it clear that any Afghan national or ACC holder who fails to leave by March 31 will be subject to deportation. Authorities have emphasized that no leniency will be shown beyond this period.
