Paank Condemns Extrajudicial Killings in Balochistan, Calls for Global Accountability

The human rights division of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), known as Paank, has strongly condemned the extrajudicial killings of two individuals in Balochistan. In a post shared on social media platform X, Paank called these acts serious violations of human rights and international law. The killings of Nizam Baloch and Farooq Ahmed have brought attention to a disturbing and growing pattern of targeted violence against civilians in the region.

According to Paank’s statement, the abduction and subsequent execution of these two individuals reflect a broader issue of systemic abuse and impunity at the hands of state security forces. The group highlighted that this incident is not an isolated case but part of a trend of violence that has affected the region for years. The human rights body emphasized the need for an immediate, transparent, and independent investigation into these killings.

Paank further emphasized that the families of the victims deserve “justice, truth, and accountability” and urged Pakistan to honor its international human rights obligations. The post concluded with a strong appeal to the international community, stating, “Silence is complicity.” Paank called for global attention to the ongoing repression in Balochistan, stressing that these extrajudicial killings are part of a wider and deeply disturbing issue that affects countless innocent lives.

Earlier this week, Paank had reported that at least 181 cases of enforced disappearances and 12 extrajudicial killings were recorded in Balochistan just in March. The victims are often students, activists, and members of civil society, abducted without warrants or judicial procedures. The abductions are allegedly carried out by Pakistani security forces and local armed groups known as “death squads.”

The situation in Balochistan remains volatile, with many families left in limbo, unaware of the fate of their loved ones. While some victims of enforced disappearances are eventually released, others endure indefinite detention or are killed in targeted attacks. These ongoing violations have deepened the mistrust between locals and the state, further destabilizing the region.

With a long history of abuses, the Balochistan region continues to grapple with widespread fear, insecurity, and a lack of accountability. Paank’s call for urgent global action highlights the critical need for international intervention to end these human rights violations and restore peace and justice to the troubled region.
