Balvinder Singh, father of Gagandeep Singh serving in the Russian Army, has made a desperate plea for assistance after his son found himself unexpectedly embroiled in the Ukraine conflict. Singh recounted how his son and friends were misled by a taxi driver upon arriving in Russia on December 24 on tourist visas. Stranded on a highway, they were apprehended by Russian police and subsequently handed over to the army. Singh revealed that his son and others underwent an 11-day rifle training before being deployed to the war zone, where they are currently stationed 100 kilometers behind the frontlines.
Singh expressed gratitude that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently in Russia, has advocated for the release of Indians in conflict areas.
