India will continue giving a befitting reply if Pakistan doesn’t stop attacking us: MEA

India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) declared on Thursday that the country will continue delivering firm military responses if Pakistan does not stop attacking Indian military installations.

Indian Forces Hit Pakistani Air Defence Targets

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi addressed the media Thursday morning, stating that Indian Armed Forces had targeted Pakistani Air Defence Radars and related infrastructure at multiple locations. “It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised,” she confirmed.

She also noted that India’s response mirrored the intensity of Pakistan’s actions. “It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised,” she repeated during the briefing.

India’s Retaliation Remains Measured and Focused

Referring to Operation Sindoor carried out on May 7, Colonel Qureshi reiterated that India’s actions were “focused, measured, and non-escalatory.” She reminded the press that India deliberately avoided targeting Pakistani military bases. However, she warned that any future assault on Indian military sites would prompt a “suitable response.”

“On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles,” she said. These attacks were intercepted and neutralized by India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems, she added. Debris from these attacks is being recovered and used as evidence of Pakistani aggression.

Pakistan Intensifies Shelling Across LoC

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh highlighted that Pakistan has escalated unprovoked shelling along the Line of Control (LoC). The increased attacks involved Mortars and heavy Artillery in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri.

“Sixteen innocent lives have been lost, including three women and five children, due to Pakistani firing,” she said. Singh added that India had no choice but to respond militarily to stop the mortar and artillery fire from across the LoC. “Indian Armed Forces reiterate their commitment to non-escalation, provided it is respected by the Pakistani military,” she said.

India Slams Pakistan’s Global Terror Track Record

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri criticised Pakistan for shielding terrorist groups. Speaking about the recent Pahalgam attack during a UN Security Council session, Misri noted that Pakistan opposed any mention of The Resistance Front (TRF) even though the group had claimed responsibility twice.

“This is after TRF claimed the responsibility of the attack not once, but twice,” he pointed out.

Colonel Qureshi and Wing Commander Singh both emphasized again that India’s responses were “non-escalatory, precise, and measured.”

Misri reiterated that India’s objective was not to escalate tensions. “No military targets have been targeted; only terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan has been hit,” he clarified.

State Funerals for Terrorists?

Taking a veiled swipe at Pakistan, Misri said, “As far as we are concerned, the individuals eliminated at these facilities were terrorists. Giving terrorists state funerals may be a practice in Pakistan,” he remarked.
