India Shoots Down 12 Pakistani Drones in Gujarat’s Kutch Amid Rising Border Tensions

The government in Gujarat’s Kutch district has asked people to stay indoors and not move out unnecessarily as tensions between India and Pakistan are increasing. The government issued the advice following Indian security forces foiling several drone attacks coming from the other side late on Friday night.

Following these intrusions, the government enforced precautionary blackouts in Kutch and had also stepped up the action in Santalpur in Patan district and Suigam in Banaskantha district.

“All citizens are requested to remain indoors safe. Avoid venturing outdoors unnecessarily and pay no attention to any rumours. Don’t panic,” the Kutch district collector said in an official notification released on the administration’s X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Ceasefire Announced After Cross-Border Strikes

On Saturday, India and Pakistan agreed to suspend all military activities on land, air, and sea with immediate effect. The ceasefire was announced after four days of intensifying drone and missile attacks between the two nuclear powers.

Tensions rose alarmingly after India launched ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, a surgical military operation that razed nine terror centers in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation was initiated in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives—most of them tourists.

Although the ceasefire continues to hold, the increased military alertness persists and local authorities continue to impose safety measures in border areas to avert civilian injury.
