Ian Cameron, former Rolls-Royce chief designer and well-known vintage car expert, was tragically killed in a stabbing at his $3 million mansion near Lake Ammersee in Herrsching, Germany.
The 74-year-old British citizen was attacked during a robbery attempt. His wife, Verena Kloos, narrowly escaped by climbing over a wall to a neighbor’s house, where she alerted the police.
CCTV footage revealed that the power cables to the garages, where valuable items were stored, had been intentionally cut, according to The Sun.
According to reports, the suspect, described as 180 to 190 cm tall, was seen wearing light-colored pants, a dark-blue sweatshirt, yellow-green gloves, and carrying a red backpack.
Ian Cameron played a pivotal role in designing models like the Ghost, Phantom, 3 Series, and Z8. He joined Rolls-Royce after BMW acquired the company in 1998 and retired in 2013. BMW spoke about Cameron’s contributions, saying, “Ian played a significant role in shaping Rolls-Royce from when it was first acquired by BMW Group and moved to its home at Goodwood, West Sussex. During Ian’s tenure, he led the design team for all Phantom family and Ghost models, creating thoroughly contemporary motor cars that remained sympathetic to the marque’s design lineage.”
