President Joe Biden will address the nation from the Oval Office on Wednesday evening regarding his decision not to seek reelection in 2024.
Biden announced on X that he will discuss “future plans” and his commitment to “fulfilling the responsibilities for the American people.” The address is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET.
After isolating at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, following a COVID-19 diagnosis last week, Biden is set to return to the White House on Tuesday. According to a statement from his doctor, Kevin O’Connor, released on Tuesday, Biden has tested negative for the virus and his symptoms have subsided.
Since July 17, Biden has not made a public appearance, but he participated in a campaign meeting on Monday via phone to address staff and express his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris’ candidacy to succeed him, a day after announcing his decision to withdraw from the race.
