Hyderabad MP and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi voiced strong criticism on Saturday regarding the Uttar Pradesh government’s new directive requiring all shops and eateries along the Kanwar Yatra routes to display the names of their owners and employees.

In a tweet, Owaisi highlighted the implications of the order, sharing a TOI article and stating, “Fear on UP’s kanwar routes: This is the reality of hatred for Indian Muslims. Credit for this visceral hatred goes to political parties and leaders of Hindutva, as well as so-called lip-servicing secular parties.”

The Uttar Pradesh government issued this mandate on Friday, stating that it aims to facilitate the smooth conduct of the Kanwar Yatra and to uphold the sanctity of the pilgrimage. Additionally, authorities indicated that they would take action against vendors selling ‘halal-certified’ products.

The Kanwar Yatra, which starts on July 22 to mark the beginning of the Hindu month of Shravan, will run until August 2.
