Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra announced in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that a staggering 114,245 positions are presently vacant across various organisations under the Ministry of Home Affairs, including the CRPF, BSF, and Delhi Police.
According to Mishra, in 2023 alone, approximately 31,879 job vacancies were advertised, with 1,126 positions successfully filled so far. The Central Armed Police Forces and central police organisations, such as the Border Security Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, Central Reserve Police Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force, Assam Rifles, Central Industrial Security Force, and Delhi Police, are among the entities grappling with these vacancies.
The minister broke down the vacancies as follows: 3,075 in Group ‘A’, 15,861 in Group ‘B’, and 95,309 in Group ‘C’. Furthermore, the vacancies include 16,356 posts reserved for Scheduled Castes, 8,759 for Scheduled Tribes, 21,974 for Other Backward Classes, 7,394 for economically weaker sections, and 59,762 for the general category.
Mishra reassured that recruitment against these vacancies is an ongoing process, with job advertisements published as and when vacancies arise, and appointment letters distributed upon the completion of the recruitment process. He added that the Ministry consistently reviews the progress of recruitment to ensure a timely filling of the vacant posts.
