The captain of the West Indies team have been changed many times in the recent past. I think Pollard has been given the responsibility of nurturing the talent of the youth. WI have dominated T20 cricket. Except for the T20 World Cup, where this team disappointed.

West Indies have many power hitters, which give depth to their batting. Recently, Akeal Hosein won the hearts of everyone by batting brilliantly at number ten. I am very impressed with this team especially the middle order, where strong batsmen like Nicholas Pooran, Pollard and Holder give strength to the team. Team India under the leadership of Rohit Sharma is expected to play with a new mindset. Team India will have to keep in mind the old mistakes while selecting the playing XI. In the middle overs, we need bowlers who are wicket-takers. At the same time, problems have increased in taking wickets in the beginning and third the team also needs a good finisher.

Remember, before the T20 World Cup, the ranking of Australia was around five, but by winning the World Cup of this format, this team proved that ranking does not matter much for a good result. Our spinners will also be tested on how they perform against WI’s power-hitters. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal have been chosen together. Team management wants to play both. They should take wickets by bowling brilliantly in the middle overs as they have proved before. Kuldeep Yadav has bowled well in the SL tour since his return but Chahal has become a bit defensive after his return. At the same time, we have to inculcate the habit of chasing 300 runs in batting and winning the match.

Ishan Kishan is a good option with Rohit in the first match at the start of the innings. I think the ideal playing XI should be – Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Deepak Hooda, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Mohammad Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
