Youth Congress launches Indira fellowship to empower women in politics

The Haryana Youth Congress has launched the Indira Fellowship Programme, aiming to empower women in politics. Divyanshu Budhiraja, the State President of the Indian Youth Congress in Haryana, announced this initiative during a press conference at the Congress state office in Chandigarh.

Stressing the significance of women’s involvement in politics, the program also introduced the Mahila Shakti Abhiyan to promote women’s participation in decision-making processes.
Budhiraja emphasized that the Indira Fellowship Programme, named in honor of former Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi, is dedicated to empowering women politically. He highlighted the Congress’s historical efforts to support and empower women, including their representation in political roles. The initiative, spearheaded by Rahul Gandhi, seeks to harness the collective strength of women in politics and decision-making.

The fellowship program aims to provide a platform for women aspiring to create a positive impact in their communities. It focuses on empowering women towards women-centric agendas and advocates for equal opportunities in education and healthcare. Additionally, it calls for the redistribution of wealth and resources in proportion to the female population, including demands for job sector reservations and budget allocations. The movement also urges women to unite against divisive politics and violence to safeguard their rights.

Key figures present at the launch included Manish Chaudhary, the Youth Congress in-charge, Shesh Narayan, Abhimanyu Gahalyan, Manju Phogat, and Pankaj Kumari.
She said that our aim is to politically empower women towards women-centric agendas. Using Shakti Samvad as a political tool through Shakti Clubs, political parties will be committed to ensure women’s rights, participation and identity based on the principle of half the population and full rights.
