Woman’s throat slit, body discarded near Yamuna dam; 2 accused on the run

A woman was murdered by having her throat slit in Sonipat, Haryana. Her head and torso were discarded separately, and her body was subsequently thrown near the Yamuna Dam, where it was badly mutilated by dogs. The crime came to light when the victim’s father, searching for his daughter, discovered the gruesome scene and promptly informed the Murthal police.

Upon arrival, the police examined the crime scene and sent the body to the hospital for postmortem. A murder case has been registered against two suspects, both of whom are currently evading the authorities.

The victim, Gulista (22), had been married to Ahsan, a resident of Raksheda village in Panipat, since 2020. They had been living in a rented house in Giyaspur, Sonipat, for the past three years and were employed at the same factory.

According to Gulista’s father, Mahfooz, trouble began when his son had a dispute with two individuals, Farman and Ansh, about seven months ago. The brothers had filed a complaint with the police against these individuals, who subsequently held a grudge against Gulista. The father revealed that he had been trying to contact his daughter for the past four days without success, leading to concern and his subsequent visit to Giyaspur.

Upon inquiry with neighbors and friends, it was revealed that Gulista had not been seen for the last three days. Fearing for his daughter’s safety, Mahfooz initiated a search. The family learned about the discovery of a dead body with a severed neck near Yamuna Dam on Rasoolpur Road, belonging to a woman. Upon reaching the location, they identified the victim as Gulista. Her neck had been severed, and the body was in a severely mutilated state.

The father mentioned that Gulista’s mobile phone had gone missing a few days prior, raising suspicions about the involvement of the murder suspects, Farman and Ansh. The missing phone was later found at the crime scene.

Jaspal Singh, the SHO of Murthal police station, stated that they received information about the discovery of an unidentified woman’s body. The family positively identified her as Gulista and expressed suspicion against the two accused. A murder case has been filed, and efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects. The investigation is considering all possible angles, including the victim’s separate living arrangement from her husband.
