Woman Files Complaint After Husband Issues ‘Triple Talaq’ for Praising Modi and Yogi

A woman has filed a police complaint against her husband, accusing him of issuing a ‘triple talaq’ after she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and recent development projects in Ayodhya. The complaint, lodged on Saturday, alleges that the woman’s husband reacted angrily to her comments, leading to her being physically abused and subsequently divorced.

According to the complaint, the woman, identified as Mariam, expressed her admiration for the development work and safety measures implemented by Yogi Adityanath and Narendra Modi. Her positive remarks about the BJP-led government were reportedly met with hostility from her in-laws, who beat her and sent her back to her parents’ home.

Mariam claimed that her husband demanded dowry beyond what her family could provide. In response to her praise of the government’s efforts for women’s safety, her husband issued a ‘triple talaq’, a form of instant divorce practiced in some Muslim communities.

Bahraich Superintendent of Police (SP) Vrinda Shukla confirmed that a case has been filed based on Mariam’s complaint. “The woman is from Bahraich, within the jurisdiction of the Jarwal Road police station, and was married in Ayodhya. She reported that during a family visit to Ayodhya, she praised the recent development work, as well as Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath,” Shukla said.

The police have registered a case under the relevant laws and have dispatched a team to arrest Mariam’s husband and any other individuals named in the complaint. The authorities are taking immediate action to address the allegations and ensure justice for the woman.
