Wipro, Salapuria, Prestige among others on BBMP’s encroachers list in Bengaluru

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) continued with corrective efforts like demolishing unlawful structures perched on encroached lake beds and valleys as Bengaluru grapples with the effects of tremendous rain earlier this month.

An August 17 list from the local authority, which includes some of Bengaluru’s largest IT parks and commercial buildings, including Wipro, Prestige, Eco Space, Salarpuria, Bagmane Tech Park, Columbia Asia Hospital, and Divyashree Villas, is making the rounds on social media during the demolition push.

Many of the illegal projects have previously received letters from the BBMP, and this past week, numerous such structures have been torn down.

Here is the list.

According to several reports, the BBMP is razing many properties owned by average people while ignoring high-profile structures.

The Mahadevapura region, where there are many structures obstructing the natural flow of water, has been the focus of the BBMP’s attention during the past few days. The Outer Ring Road (ORR) tech parks have also come under fire because of the area’s significant floods, which resulted in miles of insurmountable traffic congestion.

When it rained throughout the city, the Manyata tech park, for instance, stayed entirely submerged. Additionally, on Tuesday, the BBMP demolished a few structures in Yelahanka.

On Tuesday, Karnataka Revenue Minister R Ashoka adopted a tough stance against encroachers and informed ANI that all pending demolitions would be finished in the pattern of the Noida Twin Towers by the following monsoon.
