West Bengal Governor Ananda Bose to meet Amit Shah today

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose is due to meet with Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday evening, two days after the state’s panchayat elections, which were marred by violence.

He is expected to speak about the panchayat vote violence and provide a report based on his field visits. Several episodes of violence were recorded during Saturday’s panchayat elections in Bengal. Repolling is taking place in 697 booths across the state’s five districts.

On Sunday, the State Election Commission announced that police had confirmed ten deaths in poll-related violence. Several districts, including Murshidabad, Cooch Behar, Malda, South 24 Parganas, North Dinajpur, and Nadia, reported booth capture, voting box destruction, and assaults on presiding officers. On July 11, votes will be counted.
