West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee affected a reshuffle of her cabinet on Wednesday. Seven ministers, including former BJP MP Babul Supriyo, took oath on Wednesday.
The MLAs who took oath as ministers in the Mamata Banerjee-led government were Snehasis Chakraborty, Partha Bhowmick, Udayan Guha, Pradip Mazumder, Tajmul Hossain, Babul Supriyo, Satyajit Barman. Birbaha Hansda and Biplab Roy Chowdhury were sworn in as ministers with independent charges.
Moreover, Supriyo is a former Union Minister and BJP MP who quit the party in 2021. After that Supriyo joined the TMC and now he is MLA of the ruling camp from the Ballygunge assembly constituency in Kolkata.
Earlier on 1 August, CM announced that there will be a cabinet reshuffle in the state on Wednesday.
“We will do a reshuffle on Wednesday. There will be 4-5 new faces,” she added.
However, this comes after the arrest of former TMC minister Partha Chatterjee in the SSC recruitment scam case.
