According to officials, the Border Security Office (BSF) apprehended a smuggler on Friday who was transporting 10 gold biscuits, totaling 11644.75 grams, from Bangladesh to India. The seized gold biscuits had an estimated value of about Rs 69 lakh. They claimed that the smugglers were attempting to move the gold biscuits from Bangladesh to the Indian border. Officials claim that on Thursday, the Company Commander of Border Outpost Baijnathpur was informed by the BSF Intelligence Branch that some smugglers might be able to smuggle gold out of the region around the outpost.
As soon as the information was received, the Company Commander immediately alerted the troops and formed a Quick Reaction Team (QRT).
