The rising popularity of Korean dramas among Indians has led to a growing interest in Korean culture and language. This trend is exemplified by a remarkable four-year-old boy who has captured the internet’s attention with his fluency in both Korean and Malayalam. Born to a Kerala mother and a South Korean father, the toddler effortlessly switches between these languages, showcasing his bilingual abilities.
In a viral video shared by his mother, the boy is seen engaging in a conversation with his father in Korean while observing him prepare food. He later transitions to Malayalam while speaking to his mother, asking about eating octopus. His mother responds in Malayalam, explaining that it can be consumed after cooking.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the boy learned Malayalam first and became fluent by age two. He then started learning Korean after beginning daycare, showcasing his impressive linguistic skills at such a young age.
In response to the post, a user commented, “He can watch two of the best cinemas in the world without subtitles.” Another user expressed, “So cute the way he speaks Malayalam.”
“Kudos to the parents,” read another comment, appreciating the upbringing of the child. Another user noted, “I expected some weird Korean touch Malayalam but I was so wrong. His accent and even intonation are so natural.”
An individual humorously remarked, “Imagine after 18 he decided to come to Kerala and bro gets all the BTS girls. Bro has a birth certificate for rizz.” One more user added, “I just loved his language switch.”
Since the video went online, it has garnered over 2 million views, showcasing the widespread interest in the boy’s bilingual abilities and charming personality.
While Korean culture continues to captivate many in India, there is also a mutual admiration for Indian languages and culture among people from South Korea. Notably, content creator Yechan Lee from Korea has gained viral fame for his videos where he fluently speaks Hindi and Bihari, often collaborating with other international content creators fluent in Hindi.
