Washington DC: PM Modi to meet top CEOs on 23 June

Following the State Dinner at the White House on 22 June, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet with top US business leaders and the Indian diaspora in Washington before departing on an official visit to Cairo at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

According to Washington-based diplomats, General Electric’s proposal to manufacture F-414 aircraft engines in India under 100% technology transfer has also gained traction, with the deal headed to Capitol Hill for Congressional approval. On June 22, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to address a joint session of the United States Congress.

With both Prime Minister Modi and President Joe Biden focused on the visit’s content and deliverables, last-minute negotiations and work on a joint statement will take place after US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan meets with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval on June 13. Indications are that the visit will be beneficial to both parties and will deepen ties across the board.

PM Modi is expected to address the chairman and CEOs of top US companies at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington in the morning, devote the first half of the day to economic cooperation between the two countries, and then address the Indian diaspora at the Ronald Reagan Center in Washington in the evening.

The Ronald Reagan Center can hold 5000 people standing and 3000 people sitting. Another plan for PM Modi to attend a diaspora event in Chicago was canceled due to logistical issues.

Simply said, PM Modi will focus on Yoga on June 21 at the United Nations, with the UN Secretary-General attending, bilateral ties, global politics, and the Indo-Pacific on day two, and economy and diaspora on day three. He will leave for Egypt on June 23rd, directly following the diaspora ceremony at the Ronald Reagan Centre.
