Vijay Diwas honors 1971 war heroes; tribute to 2nd Lt. Arun Khetarpal

To commemorate the supreme sacrifice made by the legendary war hero 2nd Lt Arun Khetarpal, PVC (Posthumous) on 16 Dec 1971, a wreath laying ceremony was organised at Chandimandir Military Station on the occasion of 52nd Vijay Diwas. The War Hero’s coursemates and senior veterans of 47th Regular/ 31st Technical Course attended the solemn ceremony at Chandimandir. Also present was Shri Mukesh Khetarpal, brother of 2nd Lt Arun Khetarpal, PVC (Posthumous), who paid tributes to the gallant soldier of the Indian Army. The wreath was also laid on behalf of GOC-in-C Western Command on the statue of 2nd Lt Arun Khetarpal, PVC (Posthumous), who is widely regarded as ‘The Hero of Basantar’. The courage, grit and determination exhibited during the Battle of Basantar by him is widely acknowledged as Bravest of the Brave act in military history.
