District Magistrate Ramesh Ranjan was informed that six persons, including a lady and five children, perished as a result of a large fire that broke out in a house late on Wednesday night in the Urdha village neighbourhood near the Ramkoli police station in Kushinagar.
The cause of the fire is yet unknown. While they were sleeping, the mother and children passed away. Sangeeta (38), together with the kids Ankit (10), Lakshmeena (9), Rita (3), Gita (2), and Babu (1), has been identified as the deceased.
The fire crew arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire after obtaining information. The District Magistrate (DM) and the Superintendent of Police (SP) also arrived at the location late at night. They requested an investigation and sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. The house is situated on the bank of a canal, which the villagers could not make it in time and the fire spread. It caused the death of the woman and her children”, he added.
Adding further, the DM further stated, “On being informed, the fire brigade and Ramkola police reached the site and the fire was doused. The bodies were recovered. The reasons behind the fire are not clear yet”
