On the call of All India State Government Employees Federation, Indian Electricity Employees Federation, and other Central Trade Unions, full preparations are being made by the members of the Federation of UT Employees and Workers Chandigarh and United Employees Morcha (UT and MC) for the strike to be held on 16 February 2024. In this regard, gate meetings were held today in the Electricity Office Sector 10, Water Supply Sector 32, and Road 46, and Horticulture Sector 36, and leaflets were distributed. Preparations for the strike have been completed in almost all departments.

Speakers included Federation President Raghvir Chand, General Secretary Gopal Dutt Joshi, Vice President Rajendra Katoch, Vice President Harkesh Chand, Dhyan Singh, Surinder Singh, Rekha Sharma, Naseeb Singh, Gurmeet Singh, Secretary Amrik Singh, M Subramaniam, P Rajendran, Bihari Lal, Ranjit. Officials of departmental unions like Singh, Prempal, Toplan, Harpal Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, etc., were included.

To make the strike successful, yesterday on 12th February, the preparations for the strike were finalized by holding a meeting of the officials of the United Employees Front UT and MC, and all the concerned employee unions participated in the strike in large numbers along with Shivalik Hotel Sector 17. An appeal has been made to participate in the rally being organized from 10 am to 2 pm in large numbers at Wale Maidan.

The main demands include the repeal of PFRD Act and restoration of the old pension, confirmation of all types of temporary employees like daily wages, work charge, contract, outsourced guest, etc., and giving equal pay for equal work till they are confirmed, no privatisation of departments, new To cancel the education policy, to immediately fill the vacant promotion and direct recruitment posts in government departments, to immediately regularise the contract and outsourced workers on the revised posts, to help the Bal Sevaks working in various crèches under the Indian Child Welfare Council and not to merge the helpers in Anganwadi and protect the salaries they are getting, to end the FIR registered against the employees of the electricity department in February 2022, to cancel the decision of the MC to give green belts and parks to private societies, to provide electricity connectivity. These include immediately revising the DC rate of ICCW and MC Public Health (Kajauli) employees, abolishing section 310, 311 (2) (A) (B) and (C) of the Constitution, etc.
