UP Court Finds Ex-MLA Mukhtar Ansari Gulty In 2010 Gangsters Act Case, Sentenced To 10 Years In Jail; 6th Conviction In 13 Months

The MP or MLA in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur District convicted the former MLA Mukhtar Ansari in a Gangster Case which is being registered by the State Police in 2010 after being accused of plotting a conspiracy to kill one Kapil Dev Singh, the teacher by profession who was murdered in 2009.
MLA Mukhtar Ansari was sentenced to 10 years in jail and the fine for an amount of Rs. 5 lakh has also been imposed on him.
MLA Mukhtar Ansari is the former five-time MLA, who is presently lodged in the Banda district jail. This being his 6th conviction in the last 13 months.
The Varanasi Court in June this year convicted him in connection with the 1991 Awadhesh Rai murder case. Thus, the Rai, Congress leader and brother of Former MLA Ajay Rai, was gunned down in broad daylight outside Ajay Rai’s house in Varanasi in 1991.
This year, in April, he was being convicted in another Gangster Act case, lodged against him for his involvement in the kidnapping of Vishwa Hindu Parishad office-bearer Nandkishore Rungta in the year 1996 and also in the murder of Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Krishnanand Rai in the year 2005.
The court of Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur District in December last year convicted former MLA Mukhtar Ansari and his aide (the Bhim Singh) in a 26-year-old Gangster Case.
The High Court in last year in September had convicted him in two cases.
Therefore, the High Court found him guilty in one of the case for intimidating a Jailer who was performing public duty by abusing him and pointing a revolver or pistol toward him, and threatening to kill him in the year 2003.
The High Court in the case observed and has convicted Ansari to 5 years in jail in connection with a 23-year-old case under the Uttar Pradesh Gangsters and Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 1986.
