Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to lead a crucial high-level security review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir in the national capital on Tuesday. The meeting, scheduled for the afternoon, will delve into key aspects such as the law and order situation, the security grid, and the zero terror plan, according to sources.
During the session, the Home Minister is expected to evaluate the functioning of the security grid, focusing on various security-related issues and development initiatives in the Union Territory. The agenda includes a comprehensive review of the area domination plan, zero terror plan, law and order scenario, cases related to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and other critical security issues.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Director General of Police RR Swain. The lineup also features National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Director Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, Director Generals of Police from the Central Reserve Police Force and the Border Security Force, alongside concerned officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Jammu and Kashmir are expected to join the meeting .
The meeting may encompass a review of the development projects in the Union Territory, considering the significant strides taken under the New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu and Kashmir, launched in 2021 with an outlay of Rs 28,400 crore to boost industrial growth.
In the previous fiscal year, an investment of Rs 2153.45 crore was realized in the industrial sector, and up to November 2023, Rs 2326.65 crore has been invested in the ongoing fiscal year.
This high-level review meeting follows a similar session chaired by the Home Minister on January 13 last year, where he emphasized a policy of zero tolerance against terrorism. Amit Shah underscored the decisive battle against terrorism being waged by all security agencies and expressed the commitment to strengthen the 360-degree security mechanism to eradicate the support and information systems of terrorists. The upcoming meeting is expected to further outline strategic measures to fortify security and foster development in Jammu and Kashmir.
