Udhampur: One Dead, One Injured in Tragic House Collapse in Jammu and Kashmir

A tragedy struck in the Pattangarh Panchayat of Udhampur District, Jammu and Kashmir, where a kutcha house collapsed in ward number one, resulting in one fatality and another person sustaining injuries. The incident was confirmed by Udhampur ASP Anwar Ul Haq, who stated, “One person has been confirmed dead and another is injured.”

Upon receiving information about the collapse, a police team swiftly reached the spot and initiated evacuation efforts. The injured individual was extricated from the debris and has been shifted to the Community Health Center in Chenani for medical treatment.

An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of the house collapse. Unfortunately, this incident is not the first of its kind in Jammu and Kashmir. In May of this year, heavy rain and hailstorms led to the collapse of a house in Kishtwar district, resulting in the tragic deaths of three family members. The district administration promptly provided relief to the affected family, offering financial assistance of Rs 25,000 along with relief materials from the Red Cross.

Similarly, in April, a house collapsed in Khanetar village in Poonch district, injuring over 30 women. Dr. Zulafkar Ahmed, Superintendent of Poonch District Hospital, reported the incident, emphasizing the importance of building safety and disaster preparedness in the region.
