The UAE has joined nations around the world in honouring World Drug Day, which is observed on June 26th each year.
The event, led by H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Interior, and Chairman of the UAE Anti Narcotics Council, has the forceful message “Join us to stop it.” This slogan has been formally accepted as the core theme of a state-wide awareness campaign that was started earlier this month.
The current programme includes a wide range of substantial activities aimed at raising awareness of the dangers of drug usage. Furthermore, using social networking activities, the campaign hopes to reveal effective techniques for confronting drug dealers.
Since its inception, the UAE has displayed a consistent commitment to combating the drug problem, standing in solidarity with the international community in combating illicit drug trafficking and transnational criminal networks.
