A passenger minibus met with an accident after allegedly hitting a car on Tuesday in the Karong area of Manipur’s Senapati district, leaving two men dead and 10 others injured. According to police reports, two passengers on the minibus managed to escape unharmed.
Around 7 am, a minibus travelling from Imphal to Dimapur (Nagaland) collided with a car on the NH-2 Imphal-Mao sector and plunged into the Barak river close to a bridge at Karong, 65 km north of Imphal.
All the injured patients were admitted to the Senapati district hospital. Two of the injured men, all of whom are in critical condition, may be transferred to a larger hospital.
The police have filed a complaint and opened an investigation, while locals helped fish out the severely damaged mini bus from the river.
