A case has been filed against two individuals on allegations of cheating a sub-contractor out of Rs 18.45 lakh in connection with work related to a highway project in Thane district, Maharashtra, confirmed by an official statement.
According to the Station House Officer of Shahapur police station, the case of cheating has been registered against Rahul Begde, the owner of Arya Modern Infra Projects Pvt. Ltd., and Narendra Deshmukh, the site in charge. These individuals had secured the contract for specific tasks within a highway project but opted to outsource the work to a sub-contractor.
The aggrieved sub-contractor diligently completed the assigned tasks between October 2021 and January 2022, subsequently submitting an invoice amounting to Rs 18.45 lakh for the work carried out. However, the accused initially responded with evasive responses and, ultimately, abandoned the site without settling the outstanding bill.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this case, and the investigation is ongoing to ensure justice is served.
