Assam Rifles in a joint operation with the Customs Department, seized 406 kgs marijuana worth Rs 1.86 crore hidden in the forest area of Neuramura Taibandal, Sepahijala district on Sunday.
“Based on the specific information regarding the presence of a large quantity of marijuana hidden in the forest area of Neuramura Taibandal , Sepahijala District. A joint operation was launched by Assam Rifles and the Customs Department, resulting in the recovery of 406 kg of marijuana worth Rs 1.86 crore,” Assam Rifles said.
The seized package has been turned over to the Agartala Customs Department for additional legal proceedings, according to Assam Rifles.
Assam Rifles and the Customs Department had earlier in April taken possession of 188 kg of marijuana, which was estimated to be worth Rs 84.60 lakh on Sunday.According to the Assam Rifles, the operation, which took place in the general vicinity of Apurba Shil, Sepahijala District, Tripura, dealt a serious blow to the illegal drug trade in the area.
