Teen murders classmate over debt of Rs 20,000: booked

In Uttar Pradesh, two teens have been held on suspicion of killing a 16-year-old boy in exchange for money. On Wednesday, the body of the victim, Himanshu, was found on the bank of the Khannaut river, under the control of the Deoria Kotwali police station. According to the authorities, Himanshu has been missing since September 11.

Himanshu, a resident of Bisalpur’s Nagipur Bhadaria village and a student at a local college, was living in a leased room while attending school there. A 17-year-old juvenile who was Himanshu’s classmate and a 19-year-old have been named as the alleged killers.

According to reports, the accused borrowed Rs 20,000 from Himanshu three months ago. The report claimed that the child came up with a scheme to kill his classmate instead of paying back the money. He enlisted a friend who is 19 years old to assist him with the plan.

“On September 11, both the accused reached Bisalpur on a bike and took Himanshu with them on the pretext of having a party. After reaching the bridge across the Khannaut river in Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, they strangled Himanshu and fled,” SHO Praveen Kumar told the daily.

In the meantime, Himanshu’s father reported his child missing to the police on the same day that he was unable to locate him. Himanshu’s father had provided the police with a statement in which he said that his son had parked his bicycle outside of his rented room in Patel Nagar just before 2:30 PM on September 11 and had not since been seen.

The kid will appear before the Juvenile Justice Board after the two accused admitted their involvement in the incident. The article also stated that his 19-year-old boyfriend would appear before the remand magistrate.
