The past four days have seen an increase in wind speed and rough seas in the coastal regions of Tamil Nadu, including Dhanushkodi, Mukundarayar Chatram, and Arichal Munai at the southern tip of the Rameswaram island in Ramanathapuram district. Arichal Munai is undergoing a severe sandstorm, and strong gales are blowing there.
The sandstorm has impacted the normal life of citizens and traders.
“Due to the closure of Sandalkuvindu Road, people travelling to Dhanushkodi and Arichal Munai area by two-wheelers and vehicles including auto rickshaws are facing the wrath of the sand storm,” a trader said.
