Supreme Court denies bail to Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s associate

Sikh for Justice terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun’s case has come to light with significant news. According to information received, the Supreme Court has dealt a major blow to Pannun’s associate. Refusing to grant bail to Pannun’s associate, the Supreme Court stated that bail regulations do not apply to unlawful activities prevention act (UAPA) 1967. Delay cannot be granted bail in cases related to crimes. The bail hearing was conducted by Justices MM Sundresh and Arvind Kumar.

The court said in Wednesday’s hearing that the available content on record indicates the involvement of accused Gurvinder Singh alias Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi in furthering the activities of the banned terrorist organization, which includes large financial transactions through various channels.

He is accused under section 18 of the UAPA for involvement in terrorist activities.
It is noteworthy that accused Gurvinder Singh had knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court after his petition was dismissed in the High Court. It may be mentioned that the accused was arrested during a crackdown on a module of the terrorist organization in 2018, and after an investigation by the NIA, charges were filed by the Punjab Police.

The court had framed charges against accused Gurvinder Singh on December 9, 2021. Due to the delay in the case, the accused had filed a bail plea, which has now been dismissed by the Supreme Court after the High Court.
