Even as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) grows, Google’s AI picture generator Gemini has landed in a major soup after a series of massive errors. According to sources in google, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of the the company, may have to deal with the fallout as calls for his replacement at the top rise.
Due to incredibly erroneous images being produced by the AI tool, Google recently paused its Gemini image generator, despite having made significant investments in AI. Following the service’s termination, the large IT company’s stock also plummeted.
According to a Business Insider article, the board is thinking of replacing Sundar Pichai the Gemini error and the damage done to the stock price and the company’s reputation.
In a recent blog article, analyst and author of Stratechery Ben Thompson stated that in order for Google to survive, it must undergo a total makeover, which entails “removing those who let the former run amok, up to and including CEO Sundar Pichai.”
Additionally, Mark Shmulik, an internet analyst at Bernstein, proposed that Google’s top management needs a shock to recover from the recent run of disasters, particularly Gemini.
In a research note released this week, he stated, “The most recent saga only further raises increasingly louder questions around whether this is the right management team to guide Google into this next era.”
