Sukhbir Badal files cyber-crime complaint against CM Bhagwant Mann

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president, Sukhbir Singh Badal, lodged a formal cyber-crime complaint today against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for disseminating multiple manipulated and slanderous videos through his official social media account. Badal fervently demanded prompt action against Mann for these alleged transgressions.
The official complaint was submitted by the SAD leader to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Garg in Mohali. This action came in response to a perceived unjust case filed against the party’s general secretary, Parambans Singh Romana, under the
Cyber Act.
In the presence of prominent party leaders, including Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Virsa Singh Valtoha, and Dr. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, Sukhbir Singh Badal contested the grounds on which a case was filed against Parambans Romana.
He revealed that the video in question had been in circulation since 2016, and several political figures had shared it on their social media pages. Badal emphasized that legal action should be directed towards the individual responsible for altering the video, rather than Mr. Romana.
Sukhbir Badal strongly criticized the Punjab Police for allegedly aligning with the chief minister’s agenda, remarking, “The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and its top leadership routinely disseminate manipulated videos and defamatory content against us on social media.
The police should, according to our complaint, register cases against them, including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.”
Badal also raised concerns about the Punjab Police’s conduct, pointing out their swiftness in registering a case against Romana in an alleged cyber-crime incident without thorough verification. Simultaneously, the police had declined to initiate a case against the education minister, Harjot Bains, despite a teacher’s dying declaration accusing the minister of being responsible for her death.
“This highlights the extent to which the police force has become politicized, acting as a tool in the hands of the chief minister, who appears to be pursuing a vendetta against his political adversaries,” Badal asserted.
SAD’s president posited that the chief minister was employing such tactics to divert attention from his own inadequacies, stating, “The Aam Aadmi Party has let down every segment of society. Now, having failed on all fronts, they resort to intimidation tactics against the SAD. I want to make it clear to the chief minister that the SAD will not be cowed by such acts of cowardice. The party stands firmly behind Mr. Romana and is committed to ensuring that justice prevails in this matter, thwarting AAP’s disruptive actions.”
