Four DPharma (Diploma in Pharmacy) students at UP’s state-run Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal (VBSP) University in Jaunpur received 50% marks for writing only “Jai Shri Ram” and the names of certain star cricketers in a recent exam.
However, after a probe prompted by an RTI disclosure, they were awarded zero marks, and two teachers who awarded the initial marks are facing termination pending approval from the university chancellor, Governor Anandiben Patel.
The RTI request was filed by Divyanshu Singh, a former student of the university, although the exact motivation behind the filing remains unclear.
VBSP Vice-Chancellor Vandana Singh confirmed the recommendation for action against the two teachers, which will be presented to the university’s executive committee for approval.
