The Special Task Force (STF) in Punjab is preparing for substantial action against the dismissed Additional Inspector General (AIG) Rajjit Singh Hundal in connection with a drug trafficking case. Hundal’s family has been given time until February 9 to submit their response; failing to do so will lead to the attachment of their properties. STF has identified nine properties belonging to Rajjit Singh thus far.
In relation to the drug trafficking case, the STF has initiated significant action against the dismissed AIG Rajjit Singh Hundal. The STF has commenced proceedings to attach the properties of the accused Rajjit Singh.
The Punjab STF has sent a letter to the Central Ministry of Finance, urging the issuance of a notice to attach the accused’s property. The committee of the Central Ministry of Finance has directed Rajjit Singh Hundal, his wife, and daughter to submit their responses in Delhi by February 9. Failure to do so will result in the initiation of property attachment proceedings against him.
The value of the accused’s wife’s property in Mohali is estimated to be around four crore rupees. The STF has initiated the process under Section 64-F of the NDPS Act to attach this property. Rajjit Singh has been fugitive since October 20, 2023, in connection with the drug trafficking case. He did not receive anticipatory bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
According to STF officials, Rajjit Singh Hundal owns a total of nine properties across Punjab. These properties include land purchased in Mullanpur village in 2013, a plot in New Chandigarh in 2013, a house in Mohali in 2016, and plots and shops in Ludhiana in 2020.
Over the past ten years, transactions totaling 13 crore rupees have been recorded in the bank accounts of the accused Rajjit Singh and his wife. The STF is thoroughly investigating the entire case.
This case dates back to 2017 when Rajjit Singh Hundal, along with his accomplice Inspector Indrajit Singh, was arrested in a drug trafficking and weapons-related case. During a search at the accused’s residence, heroin, smack, and other illegal weapons were recovered. Charges were later filed against Rajjit Singh for assisting the dismissed inspector, tampering with evidence, and obstructing the drug recovery process.
