In a dazzling display of athleticism and school spirit, St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School hosted its Annual Sports Day, graced by the presence of the esteemed chief guest, Angad Bir Singh, a prominent hockey star. Angad, the first hockey player from Chandigarh to represent the country, gained national recognition for his outstanding performance in the Junior Asia Cup final.
Maninder Singh Manku, Regional Head, Institutional Banking, ICICI Bank Limited, and a district and state-level handball player, added to the event’s prestige as the guest of honor. The occasion also saw the attendance of Chairman I. Williams, Principal Dr. Ivorin Castella, Additional Principals Gavin Bond and Chandan S Patwal, Assistant Directors Naresh Handa and N Gandhi, and Senior Vice Principal D. Pant.
The festivities kicked off with a formal march past led by the Student Council and eight House Captains, accompanied by their respective House members. The audience was captivated by a series of track events, including the 80-meter race for both girls and boys, girls’ relay race, mixed relay, hurdles, and skipping relay for both boys and girls. The ‘Yoga and Zumba Drill’ presentation showcased a fusion of fitness and entertainment, mesmerizing the spectators.
Adding a musical touch to the event, the school choir delivered enchanting performances that delighted the parents in attendance. The excitement peaked as parents actively participated in the Guthrie Legged Race, receiving applause for their spirited involvement.
Chief guest Angad Bir Singh and special guest Maninder Singh Manku congratulated the winners and presented them with well-deserved prizes.
Principal Dr. Ivorin Castells expressed gratitude to the parents and commended the Sports Department for the resounding success of the annual sports competition.
The event concluded on a patriotic note with the rendition of the national anthem, marking a memorable celebration of sportsmanship, talent, and communal joy at St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School.
