SP Leader Criticizes Centre Over Security Lapses in J&K

Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Ghanshyam Tiwari criticized the Centre on Sunday, alleging that security arrangements in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are not foolproof, thus failing to prevent terror attacks. His remarks followed the deaths of two army soldiers in an encounter with terrorists in Anantnag district, where two civilians were also injured.

Tiwari expressed concern over the ongoing sacrifices made by Indian soldiers, stating, “It is very sad that our soldiers are losing their lives and getting injured in encounters with terrorists. Security arrangements have not been made foolproof to prevent such attacks.” He urged the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, and Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, to take responsibility for the situation.

Meanwhile, the Indian Army continues its operation to track down terrorists in the Ahlan Gadool area of Kokernag, Anantnag district. Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, along with all ranks of the Indian Army, paid tribute to Havildar Dipak Kumar Yadav and Lance Naik Praveen Sharma, who were killed in the line of duty during the encounter.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the Additional Directorate General of Public Information, IHQ of MoD (Army), stated, “General Upendra Dwivedi, COAS, and All Ranks of Indian Army salute the supreme sacrifice of Bravehearts Hav Dipak Kumar Yadav & L/Nk Praveen Sharma, who laid down their lives in the line of duty in Anantnag, J&K.” The Indian Army extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families.

The encounter, which took place at an altitude of 10,000 feet, occurred during a joint operation by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF in the Kokernag area of Anantnag. Despite challenging terrain, security forces continued their operation against the terrorists.
