Six bills, including the personal data protection bill listed in Rajya Sabha today

The government will introduce a total of six bills into the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday for discussion and approval. This also applies to the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023, which was vehemently opposed by the Opposition and introduced last week. The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill sets forth the obligations of the Data Fiduciary to use collected data lawfully on the one hand and the rights and responsibilities of the citizen (Digital Nagrik) on the other. The following data economy principles form the foundation of the bill.

The focus of the Bill is to protect internet users from online harm and create a safe and trusted digital ecosystem as India is a digital economy powerhouse today.
According to the listed legislative business of Rajya Sabha for the day, six bills will be moved by the government in the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passing.
The Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order (Amendment) Bill, 2023; The Pharmacy (Amendment) Bill, 2023; The Digital Personal Data Protection Bill, 2023; The Anusandhan National Research Foundation Bill, 2023; The Coastal Aquaculture Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2023; and The Repealing and Amending Bill, 2023 are among the six Bills to be moved by the government in the Rajya Sabha for consideration and passing today.

There are 245 seats in the Rajya Sabha, of which 8 are open at the moment. The strength as of this moment is 237. Therefore, 119 votes will be needed to pass the bill in the Upper House. opposition group INDIA. To plan the strategy for the floor of the house, a floor leaders meeting will be held at 10 am in the Rajya Sabha Leader of Opposition office in Parliament.
