Commissioner Secretary of Floriculture, Parks, and Gardens, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad, led a significant public darbar in Handwara today as part of the government’s comprehensive public outreach and grievance redressal program.
Various dignitaries including District Development Council members from Mawar and Nutnoosa, the President of Traders Federation Handwara, alongside local residents, participated in the event. The gathering served as a platform for the community to voice their concerns and grievances, with senior civil and police officials present to record and address these issues effectively.
The public darbar witnessed an overwhelming response from residents of Handwara and surrounding areas, who seized the opportunity to raise a multitude of developmental and administrative concerns. Key among the demands were the construction of a public park near Degree College Handwara, development of lavatory blocks near children’s parks, and the establishment of recreational parks at Bagatpora on Bungas road.
Other notable grievances included the need for a functional slaughterhouse, the implementation of Tribal Sub Plan in tribal villages, and the development of Saranwali Moanbal as a tourist destination. Additionally, demands were made for the release of pending installments under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and wages under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
Highlighting the significance of such public darbars, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmad emphasized their role in fostering direct communication between the administration and the people. He assured attendees that their grievances would be addressed promptly and emphasized the importance of a proactive and citizen-centric approach in delivering public services.
Local leaders including DDC members Khurshid Ahmad Dar and advocate Zahoor Ahmad, along with Aijaz Ahmad Sofi, President of Traders Federation Handwara, expressed gratitude to the government for organizing the ambitious program, underscoring its importance in addressing community concerns.
